The Distinguished Member Program is a way to reward active members of IIE with recognition and financial discounts on events.
Throughout a semester, point totals are accumulated for each registered UW-Madison IIE member. Members receive points for attending various events, and an individual's points are kept by the IIE officer board. The point allocation system is described below:
One point: Attending a general/committee meeting or event, a company presentation, or a social.
One point: Attending a volunteer event (volunteering events include hockey game concession sales, outreach events, EXPO stand volunteering, Career Connection volunteering, and any other events).
Two points: Attending an IIE-sponsored visit to a company
Three points: Attending the IIE Regional Conference.
Five points: Giving a technical paper presentation at Regional Conference
Six points: Attending the IIE National Conference.
At the end of the semester Distinguished Member status is achieved if a regular member is in the top one-third by total number of points. These members will then be listed on the IIE website for the entire upcoming semester, and given a printed certificate for their achievements. Maintaining an actively participating officer position within IIE facilitates Distinguished Member status.
